CONSCIOUS FANTASY
This series of photographs delves into a bizarre fictitious world as if I have a wandering eye and access into one’s lucid dream. In these altered worlds I dance around the notion of temporary performance sculptures and undesirable still lives. Together, these photographs facilitate an aberration of experience that venture into the fabricated world of surreal imagery and visceral pleasure. The juxtaposition of content is to further impact a delusional state through mixing nature into our culture today and vise versa.
I am connecting the opposing worlds of unconscious fantasy and conscious realism through color, objects, and provoking one’s senses through synesthesia. I have composed a surreal world where shrimp serves as jewelry and Chinese food boxes take on their own personas. Through visually twisting these scenarios I am questioning if these opposing environments can comfortably collapse into one uncanny world.
